The $99 supastarter alternative for Next.js

Agentic Boilerplate is a $99 supastarter alternative, free during launch. Price, license, stack and agent files side by side, plus supastarter vs ShipFast.

Updated · 7 min read

Pick supastarter if you need organizations and seat billing, i18n, or Nuxt or TanStack Start, and you want a paid kit with a support channel. Pick Agentic Boilerplate if you build on Next.js, want one $99 price instead of tiers, and want your coding agent set up with path-scoped rules, guard hooks and solution docs. It's free during launch. supastarter ships more SaaS features. We ship a pick-your-stack generator, and guard hooks, subagents and solution docs inside the repo.

Every supastarter fact below comes from its own site, checked on October 4, 2026.

What supastarter does well

  • Three frameworks. Next.js, Nuxt and TanStack Start. If your team writes Vue, it has a kit for you. We are Next.js only.
  • Organizations. Create orgs, add members, set roles, bill per seat. That is real B2B work, done. We have none of it.
  • i18n. Locales, a language switcher and translated emails, per its home page. We have none.
  • More auth out of the box. Passkeys and 2FA. Our Better Auth screens ship neither. With Clerk, passkeys are a dashboard setting.
  • Five payment providers, Creem included. We support four and no Creem.
  • More features in one box. Its home page lists background jobs through trigger.dev, S3-compatible file storage, a chatbot example and a multi-language MDX blog.
  • People to talk to. The Startup tier includes a 60-minute consulting call and priority email support. Agency adds a private Discord channel with founder access.
  • Users. Its home page says it is "trusted by 1500 developers" (October 4, 2026).
  • It takes agents seriously. Every kit ships a maintained AGENTS.md and Agent Skills, and it publishes guides on AGENTS.md and Claude Code.

supastarter vs ShipFast

Where Agentic Boilerplate is different

$99, one price

  • $99 once for lifetime access and updates. No seats, no tiers, no subscription.
  • supastarter's cheapest tier, Solo, lists at $299 and showed at $149.50 on October 4, 2026. $99 is under both.
  • Both licenses are proprietary. Ours: build as many projects as you want and ship what you build. You can't resell or redistribute the boilerplate itself.

You pick the stack, and every pick is tested

  • 26 batteries: auth, payments, database, ORM, email, storage, analytics, errors, support, blog, AI and admin. One per category, or none.
  • Every pair you can pick was installed, typechecked, built and booted together. Untested pairs are greyed out with the reason.
  • See what one battery ships: Better Auth, Stripe, Polar.

Read the repo before you download it

/stack/indie-saas shows the file tree, CLAUDE.md, the agents and the design. No email, no purchase.

The agent layer goes past AGENTS.md

supastarter's pages describe AGENTS.md, Agent Skills and .cursorrules. We have not seen its paid repo, so we won't guess what else is inside. Ours is generated for the stack you pick. Here is what it ships for Indie SaaS:

  • 30 rules, most scoped to paths. A rule on src/lib/billing/** loads only when the agent reads a billing file.
  • 28 skills, like /edit-pricing, /add-admin-page and /db-branch.
  • 7 subagents, like pr-reviewer and security-auditor.
  • 7 guard hooks. They refuse rm -rf, force pushes, DROP on a database and reads of .env.local. bun run verify:hooks proves each one still blocks what it claims.
  • 74 solution docs. Idempotent webhooks, edge session pitfalls, connection pooling. Browse them in the cookbook.

Hooks are wired for Claude Code. Codex and Cursor get the same rules and skills in their own formats.

When to pick supastarter instead

  • You sell to teams and need organizations, roles and seat billing.
  • You need more than one language.
  • Your team writes Vue, or wants TanStack Start.
  • You want passkeys and 2FA without building them.
  • You want a consulting call, priority support or a founder on Discord. We have no paid support and no community chat.
  • You want a kit with a track record. We are new in 2026, with few public testimonials so far.

How to try it

npm create agentic-boilerplate@latest my-app

Or open /build, pick batteries, and watch the file tree and CLAUDE.md change on every click.

Want to set up your own agent files by hand? Start with the CLAUDE.md template and Claude Code setup for Next.js.

FAQ

Is there a free version of supastarter?

We found none. Its home page lists three paid tiers, all one-time (October 4, 2026). Free MIT kits do exist: MakerKit Lite, the Next.js SaaS Starter, ixartz SaaS-Boilerplate, Open SaaS and create-t3-app. Our roundup compares them. Agentic Boilerplate is free during launch, then $99 once.

Is supastarter worth the money?

If you need organizations, i18n or Nuxt, probably yes. Building those yourself takes weeks. If you need one Next.js app with sign-in, billing and admin, try a free kit or ours first and see what is missing.

What does Agentic Boilerplate cost?

Free during launch. Then $99 once for lifetime access and updates. One price, no seats, no tiers, no subscription.

Is Agentic Boilerplate open source?

No. It is closed source, like supastarter and ShipFast. You get every file of the repo you generate, to read and change. You can't resell or redistribute the boilerplate. Want an MIT kit? See the free ones in our roundup.

Does Agentic Boilerplate support teams or multi-tenancy?

No. There are no organizations, invites or seat billing. If you need them on day one, supastarter or MakerKit is the better fit.

Does supastarter work with Claude Code?

Yes, per its own Claude Code page. It says every kit ships AGENTS.md and Agent Skills for Claude Code, plus .cursorrules for Cursor.
